Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrives in Bishkek for bilateral talks

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan: A new era of Kyrgz-Uzbek bilateral relations begins today after Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived along with First Lady of Uzbekistan Ziroathon Hoshimova at Manas International Airport, reports Dispatch News Desk (DND) News Agency.

Bishkek considers this visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev as a landmark event for Kyrgyzstan.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his wife Ziroathon Hoshimova were received by President Almazbek Atambayev and First Lady of Kyrgyzstan Raisa Atambaeva on Tuesday and couple was given State Guard of Honour.

President Almazbek Atambayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev will exchange views on a wide range of issues of mutual interest including cross-border issues and threat of terrorism to Central Asia.

According to presidential office of Kyrgyzstan, heads of both states will exchange views on a wide range of issues of mutual interest, discuss prospects for further deepening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

At the end of the talks, President Almazbek Atambayev and Uzben President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will attend the signing ceremony of a number of bilateral documents, as well as make a joint statement for the press.

bilateral relations had been in blues after Osh riots in year 2010. There is strict checking at border crossing of both countries which is hampering tourism development in Kyrgyzstan while citizens of both the countries are face several problems due to long process of border crossing checking.

“It is expected that President Almazbek Atambayev and Uzben President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will discuss border issues in detail to device some system that can ease this long-standing issue”, reported Kyryz independent media.
