Training program for tourism leaders concluded in South Korea

Seoul: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea, the South Korea Tourism Organization and the Institute for International Development Cooperation, Yeungnam University held a tourism training program from November 11 2014 to November 22.

The program was attended by tourism representatives from 20 countries including Cambodia; Laos; Mongolia; Timor Lester; Vietnam; Bolivia; Colombia; Mexico; Paraguay Solomon Island; Bangladesh; Brunei; Indonesia; Pakistan; Philippines; Azerbaijan; Nepal; Sri Lanka; Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan delegation was headed by Mr. Umid of Silk Road Destinations Samarkand Uzbekistan while Pakistani delegation was headed by Mr. Tayaab Nisar Mir of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation while Mr. Mukhtar from PTDC also attended the event. It may be mentioned that Silk Road Destinations and Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation are founding members of The Region Initiative (TRI) that connects tourism organizations from South Asia, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. TRI is functioning as a link among three regions—-South Asia, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. It offers blended tours packages, consultancy, networking of tourism organisations, tourism research opportunities, marketing of small tourism stakeholders, promotion of need of usage of renewable energies, advocate sustainable tourism and ecotourism. TRI is member of the International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP).

Korean hosts gave special presentations to participants about tourism opportunities in Korea including in cultural, medical, village and city tourism.

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Republic of Korea Jondeok Kim inaugurated the event.
