Sunanda Pushkar died of poisoning: Indian media

NEW DELHI: Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of the Indian minister of state for human resource Shashi Tharoor, died of poisoning, Indian media referring to a report of the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) probing her death reported on Tuesday.

The 52-year-old Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her room at The Leela Palace hotel in New Delhi on Friday night days after accusing her husband on Twitter of being unfaithful.

The Indian media reported that the SDM Alok Sharma has asked police to find out the cause of poisoning and also to specifically probe murder or suicide angle.

Moreover, the Indian media citing police sources said the autopsy report of Pushkar submitted to Sharma by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday said that the minister’s wife died due to drug overdose. It said that there were more than a dozen injury marks on her person, suggesting a scuffle.
