Romanian National News Agency signs news cooperation agreement with Associated Press of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan: The Romanian National News Agency (AGERPRESS) and Pakistan’s state-run news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) on Thursday signed the news cooperation agreement at the Ministry for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage in Islamabad, reports Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency on Thursday.

The Managing Director of the APP Masood Malik and Romanian Ambassador to Pakistan Emilian Lon signed the agreement and exchange documents.

The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, the Federal Information Secretary Syed Imran Gardezi and the Director General External Publicity Wing Shafqat Jalil were also present on the occasion.

Under the agreement, both sides on the basis of interactive mutual reciprocity would cooperate for the free exchange of news services, photo services and video services.

Established in March 1889 as the Telegraph Agency of Romania but later replaced with the AGERPRES, it is the oldest and first autonomous new agency in Romania and has been serving as a “fast and accurate service of all general or special interest news”. Having a membership of European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), the Association of Balkan News Agencies (ABNA-SA) and Black Sea Association of National News Agencies, AGERPRES has partnered with over 40 news agencies worldwide.

The news cooperation agreement between APP and AGERPRESS is part of a series of cooperative initiatives, Pakistan has been taking since it tilted its foreign policy closer to the Eurasian region particularly Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
