PTDC Employees call off strike after removal of Mir Shahjahan Khetran ex-MD

Islamabad: PTDC employees Union voluntarily agreed to call off the country-wide strike currently being observed by its employees, says a press release.

Meanwhile, consequent upon termination of contract of Mir Shahjahan Khetran ex-MD PTDC on charges of corruption and malpractices, Mr. Furqan Bahadur, Additional Secretary Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) has assumed charge as Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC). According to a notification issued by the Ministry of IPC, Mr. Furqan Bahadur will look after the work of MD PTDC till appointment of a regular incumbent to this post.

Mr. Zafarullah Siddiqui, Joint Secretary (Development) accompanied Mr. Furqan Bahadur during his first visit to PTDC Head Office in Islamabad and briefed about the current status of the corporation. PTDC Employees Union welcomed the new MD on his arrival.

The Managing Director held a meeting with the PTDC Employees Union and listened to their problems being faced by them. The Managing Director assured the PTDC Employees that their genuine grievances will be addressed and resolved amicably at the earliest. The Employees Union voluntarily agreed to call off the strike currently being observed by the employees of the PTDC Motels.

As a result of this meeting, PTDC Motels will resume services for tourists from the next week.
