Protocol signed for implementation of economic cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan for 2013-2017.

Moscow: The 15th session of intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan was held in Moscow and plan of actions on implementation of economic cooperation between the Governments of Russia and Uzbekistan for 2013-2017 was approved.

According to Russian media, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitriy Kozak and First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov inked the documents. Minister of Labour and Social Welfare of Population of Uzbekistan Aktam Haitov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Aleksey Lichachev, Ambassador of Russia to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia Ziyadulla Polatkhodjaev, Trade representative of Russia in Uzbekistan Konstantin Artyushin and others participated in the session of the commission.

The sides underlined that the agreements, reached during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to Russia in April 2013, laid firm foundation for further expanding mutual beneficial trade-economic cooperation between two nations.

The countries are planning to continue mutual beneficial cooperation on supply of demanded products, produced in Russia and Uzbekistan. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Saratov region and Navosibirsk city Chamber will participate in a pilot project on supply of fresh vegetables from Uzbekistan to their regions.

At the session, the sides considered issues of developing business and investment relations between two states, cooperation in oil and gas, banking and customs spheres. One of the key results of the session was the ratification of agreement between Uzbekistan and Russia on encouraging and mutual protection of foreign investments. Uzbekistan also is completing accession to the CIS free trade zone.

Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Russia and Uzbekistan were recommended to inform business entities on opportunities of national chambers in checking reliability of business partners, assistance in participation of businesses of two states in participation of large exhibition-fair events.

The chambers will continue actively cooperate, including within the business councils, and exchange economic information, as well as commercial and investment proposals, help to set perspective relations between production and trade enterprises of various sectors of industry.
