Pakistan considers Tajikistan as strategic partner, says Gen Nasser Janjua

Islamabad, Pakistan: The National Security Adviser (NSA) of Pakistan Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua believes that Pakistan and Tajikistan look towards each other as strategic partners, reports Dispatch News Desk (DND) News Agency.

Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua who recently visited Dushanbe stressed enhancing cooperation between two countries in education sector during his meeting with Tajik Ambassador to Pakistan Sherali Jononov on Tuesday.

“Pakistan and Tajikistan have immense potential to expand the spectrum of bilateral relations as Islamabad could offer excellent opportunity to Dushanbe for greater connectivity”, commented former General who is responsible for designing national security strategy of Pakistan.

According to state run media, the Tajik ambassador highlighted the fact that Pakistan and Tajikistan had the same views on all the major regional and international issues concerning peace and security and acknowledged Pakistan’s commitment and efforts against terrorism.

Tajik Ambassador expressed gratitude to Pakistan for providing counter terrorism training to Tajikistan’s defence, security and police officials to enhance their professional capacity.

Ambassador Sherali Jononov also expressed great satisfaction and congratulated Nasser Janjua for conducting a very successful visit of Tajikistan.

“Tajikistan government is keen to strengthen these ties further by extending the cooperation in multiple areas including defence, security, energy, trade and regional connectivity for which the visits of high level delegates have been very helpful,” added Ambassador Sherali Jononov.

It is pertinent to mention that National Security Adviser of Pakistan Gen  Janjua (retd) visited Dushanbe on September 28-29 and held meetings with Defence Minister of Tajikistan Sherali Mirzo and Secretary Security Council of Tajikistan Abdurahim Qahhorov. During these meetings, defence and security cooperation between the two countries and Afghan civil war came under discussion.
