Nisar sees Pakistan’s important role in post-2014 scenario

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Monday that Pakistan has an important role to play in the post-2014 scenario and hoped that the United States will watch out the interests of Pakistan in regional security.

The minister made these remarks in a meeting with the US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson in Islamabad on Monday. During the meeting, they discussed issues pertaining to bilateral relations with particular reference to the security situation in the region.

Nisar said that Pakistan wants to further strengthen its relations with the United States based on mutual trust and transparency.

In his remarks, the US ambassador expressed his satisfaction over the recently concluded fourth round of ministerial strategic dialogue in Washington.

Olson said that it is a matter of satisfaction that a very positive interaction took place between the two delegations and the meeting exuded warmth and understanding of each other’s positions.

The US ambassador said that his country shares Pakistan government’s vision for peace. He said that the US has genuine interests in the progress and well-being of Pakistan as articulated by Senator John Kerry himself.
