Musharraf summoned in treason case on December 24

ISLAMABAD: A special court set up to try former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf for treason has summoned the former president on December 24, Dispatch News Desk reported.

The three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali on Friday reviewed the charge sheet filed by the federal government against Musharraf and after that issued summons to the former military ruler to appear before it on December 24.

On Thursday, the federal government had submitted a petition in the special court to initiate treason proceedings against Musharraf.

The petition which was submitted in the office of the registrar of special court in Islamabad had stated that a case might be initiated against the former military ruler under article 6 for subverting the constitution while imposing the emergency and Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) on November 3, 2007.
