TEHRAN: Iran will send a Persian cat into space as a part of its effort to fulfill its ambitions regarding sending a human into space by 2018, Dispatch News Desk reported.

The next animal could be the distinctive Persian cat, a long-haired, flat-faced breed named after Iran’s former name of Persia, the Iranian official news agency quoted space official Muhammad Ebrahimi as saying on Monday.

In February this year also, Iran claimed to have sent a monkey as the animal astronaut outside earth’s atmosphere which, Iran said,  returned safely.
