The EU funded Black Sea Silk Road Corridor (BSSRC) project, which fosters tourism development, cross-border cooperation and economic development in 173 communities across four countries of the BSSRC, was officially launched from the Noravank church of Armenia’s Vayots Dzor region on 16 July 2013.

The two-year initiative fosters tourism development, cross-border cooperation and economic development in 173 communities across four countries of the Black Sea Silk Road Corridor — Armenia, Georgia, Greece, and Turkey. A trail of cultural sites will be marked throughout the region. The objective of BSSRC — which is a joint project by the NGOs of Armenia, Georgia, Greece, and Turkey — is to create a 3,000 kilometer tourism path stretching from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Meghri, Armenia.

Ambassador Traian Hristea, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia; US Ambassador John Heffern; the Greek, Georgian, Italian, and Chinese ambassadors to Armenia, and representatives from the Culture, Economy, Transport and Communication Ministries of Armenia attended the event.
