Aziz meets Indian premier; discusses possibilities for resumption of dialogue process

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday, Dispatch News Desk reported.

The two sides discussed Pakistan-India relations and possibilities for resumption of dialogue process between the two countries to resolve outstanding issues, a spokesman of the Foreign Office in Islamabad said.

Pakistan High Commissioner to India Salman Bashir was also present in the meeting.

On Tuesday, Sartaj Aziz called on Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid in New Delhi and reviewed bilateral relations in a constructive and forward looking manner. Both sides agreed in the meeting on importance of having a meeting of DGMOs of the two countries at the earliest to address the issue of Line of Control (LoC) violation.

In addition, there were also discussions about other agenda issues including the Mumbai trial.

Aziz is currently on a three-day official visit to New Delhi to participate in a meeting of foreign ministers of Europe and Asia.
