BAKU: The Azerbaijani people will go to the polls tomorrow (Wednesday) to elect their president while President Ilham Aliyev is likely to win a third term despite a push to unite the opposition behind a single candidate, Dispatch News Desk reported.

His victory will consolidate the power of the Aliyev dynasty, which has held the presidency for two decades.

Jamil Hasanli, the main opposition candidate, has called for a change, citing the country’s high level of corruption and the power of the ruling oligarchy, which controls the highly lucrative natural resources of the country.
