20 security personnel killed in Maoist attack in India’s Chhattisgarh state

RAIPUR: At least 20 security personnel were killed and several others injured in a gun battle after Maoist rebels ambushed a joint team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police in Sukma district of India’s restive Chhattisgarh state on Tuesday, Indian media reported.

The media reported that up to 200 rebels triggered a powerful blast and resorted to indiscriminate firing at a team of security personnel in a dense forest at Tahakwada between Tongapal and Jeeram Ghati in Sukma district before the gun battle which lasted about three hours.
