Uzbek President approves Regional Roads Development Program to overhaul 5000km of roads

Tashkent, Uzbekistan: Uzbekistan will repair over 5,400 kilometers of roads by the end of 2018, reports Jahon news agency.

According to state run news agency, President of Uzbekistan approved Regional Roads Development Program for the period 2017-2018.

Under this Programe, it is planned to overhaul and repair 5,454 km of roads while works on 2,700 kilometers will be carried out in the current year and on another 2,754 km next year.

The provinces of Kashkadarya with 679 km, Surkhandarya with 535 km, and Ferghana with 520 km of roads will be leading in terms of road repair works.

A total of 295 km of roads are to be repaired in the Karakalpakstan autonomous region, 324 km in the Andijan region, 439 km in the Bukhara region, 222 km in the Jizzakh region, 216 km in the Navoi region, 309 km in the Namangan region, 479 km in the Samarkand region, 267 km in the Syrdarya region, 516 km in the Tashkent region, 321 km in the Khorezm region, and 332 km of roads and streets are planned for reconstruction in the capital city, Tashkent.

Specialized road building companies will be equipped with modern types of machinery and equipment to ensure the better quality of construction and repairs. For these purposes it is planned to procure about 330 items of specialized equipment.

Uzbekistan has 183,000 km road network.
